Adam X

The history of Adam X dates back to 1990 in New York City, where he teamed up with his brother Frankie Bones in running the first all-techno record shop in America 'Groove Records (later named 'Sonic Groove Records')' with DJ Heather Heart joining ownership shortly after. Throughout the 90’s and into the first half of the millennium, the Sonic Groove retail outlet was one of the top techno record retailers for DJs & vinyl collectors across the world.

The Sonic Groove team also took part in organizing many techno events, including the legendary Storm Rave that started in 1991. Storm Rave was the first all-techno warehouse parties organized on the East Coast of America and the line-ups included then up-and-coming artists from Sven Väth and Richie Hawtin to Damon Wild with the attendance in the thousands.

In 1995 Adam launched the Sonic Groove record label, which he continues to run solely on his own. Releases thus far come from a wide array of artists including highly prolific names such as Kevin Saunderson, Dave Clarke, Oliver Lieb and Abe Duque to lesser known but equally talented artists such as Orphx, Realmz, Dasha Rush and Richard Hinge. Adam also has a lengthy discography of solo & collaborative music releases dating back to 1990, appearing on many famous recording labels over the last two decades such as CLR, Prologue, Peacefrog, Magnetic North, Wax Trax, Sativae, Scandinaviav just to name a few.

In his DJ career, Adam X has performed alongside many of electronic music’s most famous acts such as Aphex Twin, Derrick May, Richie Hawtin , Nitzer Ebb, Andrew Weatherall and countless others as well as at thousands of events and club nights globally including Berghain, Mutek, Mayday, DEMF, Rex, Tresor, PS1, Fabric and Monox. At the present time Adam X calls East Berlin his home base, where most of his time is spent traveling across the world to perform. In Berlin you will find him busy producing, running his label Sonic Groove and organizing techno and industrial events in the city where he has booked acts like Monolake, Biosphere, Dopplereffekt, Surgeon, Legowelt, Sleeparchive and many more high caliber artists.

Currently Adam has two side-projects under the monikers Traversable Wormhole & ADMX-71. Traversable Wormhole is his most popular project to date and the releases can be found on Chris Liebing’s imprint CLR Recordings and Traversable Wormhole Records. As ADMX-71, he has released Second System on Sonic Groove Experiments and his debut album “Luminous Vapors” can be found on legendary Industrial/Experimental label Hands Productions.
