Retro-Acid is Kozzmozz' second oldest concept, dedicated to the ground-breaking sounds of the famous Roland TB-303 bass machine. It remains thé party where all the fervent acid heads flock together to celebrate the acid sound. More than 25 years after its conception the 303 still has a big influence on today’s electronic music. Acid is clearly still going strong and after more than 15 years of organizing Retro Acid, also the concept is more alive than ever.
In 1987 Acid House was born in Chicago when famous house-producers started using the legendary Roland TB-303 bass machine. Acid House is characterized by the TB-303's acid bass sequences and a 4/4 beat, creating a psychedelic effect compared with the effects of LSD, also known as acid, and that’s how the genre got its name. From that moment on, Acid has always been present in electronic music. It conquered the UK first and then the rest of the world with numerous productions and labels, also in the techno communities and later the hard core and hard tek scenes. Retro Acid represents the whole history of Acid, starting with the earlier acid house sounds and continuing with the harder and newer adepts as the night progresses.
Resident Spacid will start the night with true acid house classics to warm up your feet.
He will be followed by Slam, who were nominated ‘Greatest dance act of all times’ by Mixmag magazine and have been in the business for almost 25 years. For 22 of those they have been leading the more than legendary Soma label and playing on the best and biggest dance-floors around. They already surprised us with a full blown techno set on Kozzmozz so we were convinced they are going to blow us away with a special acid house set for Retro Acid!
Next up is Adam X, originally from New York but now residing in East Berlin. In New York he launched the Sonic Groove record store in 1990 with Frankie Bones. It later also became a very well known acid techno label with the same name. Currently Adam has two side-projects under the monikers Traversable Wormhole & ADMX-71. He will make sure to take it up a notch and will play a acid techno set.
He will be getting the floor ready for Man at Arms Live vs Sorgenkint. These partners in crime run the famous Acid Tracks label and the successful Acid Warz events. In 2013 they released the ‘Best of the First Decade’ album on their label. They know each other like no other and headline the biggest raves in Germany as Mayday, Nature One, Q Base and many others. Now they will attack your nerve systems in the ‘intimate’ settings of Vooruit!
And higher and faster we go with A-Tek vs Bion-X who will end the night with acid core. Young and furious, they have already played events as The Qontinent, Elements festival and for the DDM and Kweetniewatt Soundsystems.
From Acid House over Acid Techno to Hardcore Acid, Retro Acid will bring it all to you in one night, with a big smile from start to finish!
